The Approach
Our seniors deserve stimulation and a sense of purpose in their everyday lives. This space is designed to serve both them and the staff, creating an environment that continually evolves with their needs. The new NTUC Health Senior Activity Centre will be welcoming and pleasant, thoughtfully efficient, modular in its spatial planning and furniture, and designed to foster engagement and connection.
The DETAILS
The overarching concept envisions a safe, joyful and comfortable environment with a sense of home. Subtle yet purposeful touches of colour introduce vibrancy and dynamism through graphics and visual communication. Natural elements such as wood finishes and integrated greenery soften the space, creating warmth and familiarity.
The centre is conceived as a multi-sensory experience, engaging seniors through visual cues, tactile materials and gentle ambient sound. Each centre carries its own distinct identity, expressed through a unique set of graphic narratives tailored to its location.
For example, Telok Blangah, as NTUC Health’s southernmost centre, sits closest to Singapore’s island retreat, Sentosa. Drawing inspiration from Sentosa’s coastal landscape, the design evokes the rhythm of waves, the scent of the sea breeze, the texture of sand beneath one’s feet, and the warmth of sun against the skin. The space reinterprets the iconic beaches of Sentosa indoors, creating a relaxed, holiday home atmosphere that feels both uplifting and restorative.
